COMMUNITY DAY IS AN IDEAL TIME FOR BUSINESSES AND SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES TO DO SOME GREAT PUBLIC RELATIONS AND ENJOY FREE ADVERTISING

THIS EVENT IS DESIGNED TO PROMOTE UNITY & UNDERSTANDING IN OUR COMMUNITY!

If you or someone you know would like to participate, have them email or call Rev. Deborah Loomis Lafond at uccfedwebster@verizon.net or the church office 508-943-0061 by Wednesday, September 10.

I am grateful to local merchants & providers, Rebecca Leonard, Sandy Edwards, Debra Horan, Caryl Savard, Alma Morey, Cindy Smith, A.J. Alkire, Cheri MacKinney, Donna Farrow, and Dan Marcoux for their advice, encouragement, donations and/ or pledges of participation on Saturday, September 13. The local papers and Town personnel have also been helpful as has the entire congregation here at UCC, Federated . There seems to be a great deal of excitement about coming together for fun, music, food, learning, and community building!

I need help with:

Estimating the number of people to anticipate so that we can plan quantities of food

Food donations needed:

Hot dogs & buns

                        Donuts

Lemonade and punch & large serving containers

Milk for coffee (coffee & sugar have been donated)

Cookies (several dozen have been promised; how many do we need?)

“Penny candy” (Frito Lay has donated an assortment of chips)

Other:

Yards of red ribbon – enough to extend from the corner of Main Street through the church courtyard

                        Prizes for the bike parade

Spread the word to local service agencies & other businesses to invite them to participate; let them know this really is free advertising & an opportunity to contribute towards each other’s success!

Distribute fliers; they will be available by Sept. 5.

Encourage people to come!
